Cassandra “CC” Taylor was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, where she was heavily influenced by the sweet sounds of the great old Big Bands and Sinatra albums her father would frequently play in the family home. She began her singing career when she became the lead vocalist of a Chicago area wedding/party band in the 1980’s, and despite the upbeat music of the ear, she found herself inexplicably drawn to singing those songs she grew up on. It wasn’t long before she discovered the talents of more great legends, such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Etta James, Ray Charles, and later, Diana Krall, each of whom have been a tremendous influence, and each of whom she wishes to pay tribute to when performing their songs.
Cassandra relocated from Chicago to Austin in 2009, and has continued to share her passion for this music with audiences equally enthusiastic about these great old classics. She has a genuine affection for the golden era of jazz, and long cherished popular standards, as well as the blues she has come to embrace since discovering the Austin blues scene. Cassandra now performs with a variety of talented local musicians with her group the Cassandra Taylor Jazz Trio, which can often be found at venues and events in and nearby her new hometown of Georgetown, TX. The Cassandra Taylor Jazz Trio invites you to set the hectic modern world aside and step back in time with them for a few hours by coming out to enjoy these great old tunes again. Grab a cocktail, relax, and enjoy… you’ll be glad you did!
